Theme of the Week: Snow!

We're back to theme weeks around here, just to add a little structure to Cadie's play/learning time (because play is learning, y'all) and to help her work on some skills she's interested in.  This week is snow.  Here's some of the activities we're doing -

Reading: Stranger in the Woods, The Snowy Day and Snowmen at Night

Fine Motor: Beaded Snowflakes

Art:  Snow Crayon Resist Painting - use white crayon on white paper, then paint over with blue watercolor, and the white "snow" will appear

Math: shape snowman

Crafting: Borax Snowflakes - maybe...

Food: Make Snowball cookies, and Snowman Pizza, and tortilla snowflakes

Letter Awareness: S

Extras: Watch Blue's Clues "A Snowy Day" (season 1, ep. 10), Snowman paper doll fold rhyme (one of my old storytime tricks)

Wonderful activities--wish I was there to play and learn! Maybe you will get some real snow to enjoy also. Have fun!
Love, Mom

What a fun way to learn about "snow" and the letter "S". Maybe you will get some real snow and you can make "snow" ice cream like Grandaddy used to make for us when we were kids. FUN.
Love,
Dassa

Wow! These are aiming in the direction of lesson plans, in case you ever want to teach! I am so impressed, and Cadie will have a great time playing/learning! Way to go, Mo!
